How To Build A Healthy Self Esteem

 



Enormous facts and figures have shown that there are lot of factors that could result to low self esteem. When an individual feels good about themselves and who they are, they are said to have good self-esteem. Having healthy self-esteem is essential to living well and being a productive 



member of society.


 Low self-esteem not only affects an individual’s internal world, but their external actions as well, limiting their ambitions and choices in life. As Maslow’s “Hierarchy of Needs” defines it, self-esteem is as essential to living a good life as having good nutrition, a safe environment, and even love.

Oftentimes, low self-esteem starts with negative or wrong self-image.

Recognizing how either low self-esteem or negative self-image works within ourselves is often hard. Negative ideation can be habitual and therefore “normal” in an individual’s eyes. Self evaluation is key to assessing how selves and maintaining balanced self-esteem.


              Signs of low self esteem includes;

Self doubt

Shame

Negative thinking or pessimism

Refusal to accept responsibility

Faulty boundary setting or maintenance

Social withdrawal

Lash out at others

Demonstrate aversion to compliments


               Causes of Low Self-Esteem

Low self-esteem can stem from a triggering life event or can come from the confluence of multiple triggers. It can also stem from an individual’s natural characteristics or all of the above.


Patients can uncover the roots of their low self-esteem in a therapeutic setting working with a mental health professional. Identifying these roots is the best way to move toward a health self worth. 

When I see people who crave to change their skin color, ain't impressed with their body shape or feels insecure about themselves.

I simply narrow it down to self esteem issues. Why do you think you need to look hot just to steal people's attention, what makes you feel you need to look half dressed to call for notice, dress expensively to steal the day, I'm not saying it's bad to look good or wear designers  NO don't get me wrong. It becomes a problem when you do these things because you feel less of yourself.

When you have a healthy self esteem you look beyond your physical appearance and look out for what you can offer (value) to people to get their attention and make them impressed.

In this article I'll be sharing some tips on how to improve your self worth.

You stopped adding value to yourself because you didn't know your value worth. If you don't value yourself you will find It difficult adding value to

yourself.

💖 Talk to yourself about these qualities you have listed, don't stop reading it to yourself on a daily basis.


💝 Keep track of how many times you say it to yourself by using a smartphone or a scorecard, remember repetition is a form of learning.


🌹Add value to others; this is quite interesting no matter how little it may seem,  it could just be mentorship, volunteer in humanitarian services, counsels to colleagues, proffering solutions, giving assistance to less privileged etc.


🌺 Identify how many hours you wanna put into adding values to others it could be 3 hours in a week or more.


💓 Do something that you utilizes your strength, makes you feel good and benefits others like having book review in your home weekends with few friends

💕 Describe yourself in one WORD and make this word your North star, ruminate on this word.
